A life-long student of painting, Marilyn strives to capture the vivid color and dramatic light that Mother Nature offers, painting primarily in oil. She lived in Vermont for many years, where her surrounding countryside was her greatest inspiration. Her desire to create brought her to Green Mountain College in Vermont, studying art.
Marilyn continued to develop her artistic talent by taking classes at New Jersey Center for Visual Art, and New School University in New York.
She has taken several workshops in Maine and Vermont to develop a wider range of oil painting application, as well as studying a controlled impressionistic style, combining clean color with a sense of detail. Marilyn's paintings represent the everyday scenes she encountered as she traveled the back roads of Vermont and New England, from the swaying of poppies in the breeze, our flag snapping in a brisk wind, or the fragrant roses on the shore.
Over the years Marilyn's work has been exhibited at the Chaffee Art Center, Feick Art Center at Green Mountain College, Southern Vermont Art Center as well as numerous Vermont venues. She has also exhibited at Art Center Sarasota.
Now living in Sarasota Florida, Marilyn is a member of the Light Chasers, a plein air group painting on location in the Sarasota area. Her work is in transition to the wonderful world of tropical flora and fauna. A whole new palette of inspiration lies ahead. She is now painting palms, birds-of-paradise, shore birds running along the water's edge, and the endless beauty of coastal waters. So much to see and to paint!
Her award winning paintings hang in collections found coast to coast and beyond.
